Somehow the subject of my hike comes up rather easily in conversation, maybe because it is on my mind all the time.  So when I told one of my co-workers, the first thing he said was, "Wait, you're going to be hiking for more than A MONTH...so what about, you know?"
"What, my period?" I replied.
"Yes!  What are you going to do?" he asked with wide eyes.

People with figuratively large heads seems to want to reign over others with ultimate power. Those who spend too much time in the gym want to pump incredulous amounts of iron so they can show off their power whilst flexing. I really just want power to turn on my phone and camera. But, hiking in the backwoods can present a problem. Since 2002 I've been avidly coloring my hair.  I've had about every shade of red in the color spectrum as well as black, brown, blonde, and a mix of other colors.
